Abstract:

Meat is one of the major reservoirs for human food, also abdominal and subcutaneous fat are the main sources of waste in the slaughterhouse. This experiment was performed in a completely randomized experimental design with 3 replications and 4 treatments to determine the effects of feeding Probiotic (GalliPro�), fenugreek )Trigonella foenum � graecum. L) and mix of both additive on carcass yield weights. Total of 180 broiler chicks of strain Cobb500 were purchased and were reared for 42 days. Food and water were provided ad libitum. Total numbers of chicks were divided into four groups (A, B, C , D) each having 45 chicks. Each group was further subdivided into three groups (replications). (0.200 g/kg) Probiotic Basilus Subtilis (4�109 CFUs/g) , 0.5% (5 g/kg feed) fenugreek seed powder and mix of both additive were offered to groups A, B, C respectively and group D as a control was served. At the end of experiment, 3 birds per treatment were randomly selected and killed by cervical dislocation. Afterward, the birds were defeathered, head, feet and intraorgans were removed , abdominal fat and carcasses were weighed. Means of weight percentage for (carcass and abdominal fat) are related to live body weight and (Legs, Breast, Wings ) are related to carcass weight and then �100. Abdominal fat in group B showed lower percentage (p<0.05). Carcass yield did not show significant differences among groups. It was concluded from this study fenugreek as a natural additive only had an effect on decreasing of abdominal fat.
