Abstract:

There are more bacteria in the world today than all the humans ever born. Most of them considered as pathogen. As every coin had do sides besides mostly bacteria are pathogen but still few are friendly essential for human growth and immunity. Such friendly bacteria are called Probiotics. L. acidophilus is probiotic bacterium found primarily in the small intestine where it produces natural antibiotics called ?lactocidin? and ?acidophilin?. It enhances the natural micro flora that fights against the pathogens along with improve the digestion and immunity of the host using it. This property is wisely utilized to generate dosage form to treat diseases. Market lacks the quality uni-strain (containing one specific strain) product of the probiotics for the treatment and prophylaxis of the most of the disease. Commercially large use of antibiotics explored against the pathogenic micro-organism. But by using the probiotics the use of antibiotics can be minimized with the deletion of the side effects occurred due to heavy intake of xenobiotics drugs seen mostly in women?s and children as they are most sensitive and prone. These microbes are colonized and developed in dry state via powder form and latter in up-graded capsule dosage form than the pre-existing product in market. Probiotics earlier believed as concept related to microbiology and food science, but in case of pharmacy it is new Era in treating many diseases and as prophylaxis kit especially for children and women?s owing to its capability and exposure.

Biography :

Abhinandan R Patil is now studying M.Pharm 2nd year at the age of 24 years from Shivaji University Maharashtra. He is the Pharma director of Atmatara foundation and working as junior scientist (Kolhapur: India). He has participated and won prizes in many national conferences.
