Abstract:

Abstract: Vitamin D (Vit D) is suggested to play a role in the regulation of physical function as well as in depression. Since, Vit D deficiency is common in patients with diabetes. Objective: this study aims to explore if Vit D levels are associated with depressive symptoms among diabetic patients in North East of Morocco and to correlate between the presence of depression and vitamin D level. Methods: The study was conducted as a cross-sectional from 1 December 1st, 2016 to March 30, 2017 in the reference center of diabetology in Oujda Morocco . A structured questionnaire was used for collecting the information about sociodemographic data. Depression was assessed using the patients�?? health questions 9 .Weight and height was measured. Vitamin D was measured. The data were analyzed by SPSS version 20.0 software. Result: Increasing vitamin D serum concentration was significantly associated with lower severity of depressive symptoms, Analyses were stratified by summer time (May to October) and winter time (November to April) because of evidence for interaction with season (p0.01).
