Biography

Dr. Valeriu Crudu is currently working as Associate professor, Head of Microbiology & Morphology of Laboratory of Phthisiopneumology Institute from Moldova. WHO temporary adviser in infection controls in TB and laboratory assessments. More than 30 years of experience in laboratory assessment, laboratory network, diagnostic guidelines, infectious disease surveillance; large scientifically experience in the field of M.tuberculosis research. Authored or co-authored of 180 publications. Leading authority on Infection Control and multi drug-resistant TB in Moldova; member of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, European Respiratory Society, International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, TB PANNET European. Extensive collaborations with scientific partners from Germany, US, France, Romania, United Kingdom, Leetonia, Russia, Ukraine and other countries. The most important area of interest are: genotyping of Mycobacterium, new rapid method for TB diagnostic, molecular genetics methods for drug sensitivity testing, management of drug resistance TB, nosocomial transmission of TB, new therapeutic compounds with anti-TB activity.
