Biography

Dr. Niki Chondrogianni received her BSc and her PhD in Biological Sciences from the Department of Biology, University of Athens, Greece. She worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the National Hellenic Research Foundation (NHRF) in Greece. She has also worked as a training/visiting fellow in the Foundation of Research and Technology-Hellas, Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology with Prof. Tavernarakis, in the University Denis Diderot-Paris7, Laboratoire de Biologie et Biochimie Cellulaire du Vieillissement with Prof. Friguet and in the University of Bristol, Laboratory of Biochemistry (Proteasomes and intracellular proteolysis) with Prof. Rivett. She was elected Research Assistant Professor in 2009 at the NHRF. She is an author and co-author of several research articles in eminent journals with over 660 citations and she has contributed 4 chapters in international books. She is a patent holder that has resulted in the development of novel anti-aging products. She has received several awards including the Catherine Pasquier Award. She has teaching experience in courses at the University of Athens.

Research Interest

Her scientific activities focus in the identification of factors and pathways that
regulate human aging with particular interest on the regulation of the proteasome and protein degradation during aging and senescence while she has recently started working with the C. elegans model organism.
