Biography

Nickolas Rigopoulos is a Physicist, graduated from the Department of Physics, University of Patras, Greece with a First Class Honours in 1996. He then moved to the Department of Physics, University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), United Kingdom where he was awarded a PhD degree (2001) on Experimental Condensed Matter Physics. His PhD thesis title was “Scanning Tunnelling Microscopy of poly-Si”. Dr Rigopoulos started his academic career as a Postdoctoral Researcher (2003 – 2006) at the Department of Physics, UMIST, working on the characterisation of nanoparticle macro-assemblies using soft X- ray and Synchrotron Radiation probes. Dr Rigopoulos worked as a lecturer on contract at the Department of Food Science and Nutrition, University of the Aegean, Limnos, Greece (2013 – 2022), where he is also currently working as a Postdoctoral Researcher. His work involves green synthesis of nanoparticles using food industry wastes.
