Biography

Kyung-Jin Yeum, Ph.D. is a Scientist at the Jean Mayer USDA-Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging and Associate Professor at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University, a collaborative Professor at Faculdade de Medicina de Botucatu/UNESP in Brazil, and a scientific advisor at the Agricultural Green Technology, Rural Development Administration in Korea. Dr. Yeum has been conducting various in vitro, animal and human studies to develop biomarkers of oxidative stress and to determine antioxidant action mechanisms of bioactive food components in humans. Dr. Yeum is a member of various professional societies such as the American Society for Nutrition and International Carotenoid Society.

Research Interest

Develop biomarkers of antioxidant/oxidative stress status and elucidate the effects of bioactive functional foods on oxidative stress associated chronic diseases such as metabolic syndrome and eye diseases, and their action mechanisms to remove reactive oxygen and carbonyl species in vivo.
