For more than 30 years Dr. Jacob Brenner has served as a field agent, linking clinical signs’ epidemiology, laboratory diagnosis and general science (see the selected refs). He combines a clinical eye with knowledge of immunology, epidemiological research and diagnostic capability. He has been involved and was amongst the first to identify outbreaks involving Simbu virus serogroup (Akabane, Aino: reemerging pathogens), the appearance of EHDV in cattle (emerging pathogen) and the emergence of clinical bluetongue in cattle (emerging disease) and the intrusion of multiple new serotypes of viruses in sheep and goat in Israel (2008/2012).
