Biography

Dr. Akikazu Sakudo is cuurently working as Associate Professor in School of Health Sciences, University of the Ryukyus, Nishihara, Japan. He is interested in Prion diseases, Development of sterilization methods, Gas plasma and Near-infrared spectroscopy. He has awarded from the Japanese Society for Host Defense Research in 2006, Japanese Society of Veterinary Science in 2009, 2006 Award for best poster from the Forum of Near-Infrared Spectroscopy in Japan, 2011 NIR Advance Award from the Japan Council for Near Infrared Spectroscopy and 1st Nanointerface Innovative Award from the Committee of Frontier Science of Interactions between Plasmas and Nanointerfaces in 2011

Research Interest

Dr. Akikazu Sakudo research interests includes the functions of cellular prion protein in copper homeostasis and anti-oxidative defense, NIR spectroscopy for the diagnosis of diseases using blood and tissue samples and Gas plasma sterilization of pathogens such as viruses and prions.
