Biography
Doctor William H. Wehrmacher is clinical professor of Medicine and Adjunct Professor of Physiology at the Loyola University of Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Illinois. He is American Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disorders. His initial research, while at the University of Iowa was in muscle atrophy and regeneration. Then the war-call put him on duty as a medical officer in the U.S. Navy with his last assignment as head of the section of cardiology in the Naval Hospital in Oceanside, California. Following his return from 2 sessions of US Naval Duty, he was on the faculty of Northwestern University Medical School until 1970 when he became clinical professor Medicine at Loyola. His recent research activities have to do mainly with cardiovascular disease, pain in the chest, digitalis, heparin, medical and medico-legal communication, diabetes as an under-recognized disorder, medical editing, and a series of books about medical things for children.
