Robert S. King
Biography
Mr. Robert S. King, Ph.D. has been a Vice President of Product Development and Manufacturing at SciClone Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since 2011. At SciClone, Mr. King oversaw the manufacturing of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API), drug products, quality control and directs activities related to chemistry, manufacturing and controls (CMC). Mr. King has over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. He served as a Vice President of Manufacturing at Bayhill Therapeutics, Inc. since November 15, 2006 and also served as its Vice President, Product Development. He joined Rinat in January 2004 as Senior Director, Process Development and Manufacturing, where he was responsible for the technical development of each of Rinat's development candidates. From 1993 to 2003, he served in a series of positions of increasing responsibility in the areas of Process and Product Development, Manufacturing and Technical Operations of South San Francisco office at Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and COR Therapeutics, Inc. From 1991 to 1993, he served in various pharmaceutical and process research roles of increasing responsibility at Scios, Inc. (formerly, California Biotechnology, Inc.). From 1988 to 1991, he served in various device development and sales/marketing roles of increasing responsibility at Molecular Devices Corp. He served on the Advisory Board for the San Jose State Masters in Biotechnology program from 2003 to 2005. Mr. King was an Adjunct Professor in Chemical Engineering at San Jose State University from 1991 to 1992. His work has been published in numerous scientific journals. He holds several patents related to manufacturing processes. Mr. King received his Ph.D. in Chemical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Washington.
