Biography
Mamoudou Hama Dicko, locally called Yéro Birabia DICKO, is one the twenty three (23) children of the late cow-breeder and leading citizen Mr. Elhadji Birabia DICKO, from Dori, Burkina Faso. He was born on December 31st, 1969 in Dori. Primary school: Ecole Dori A, 1977-1983 (CEP). Secondary school: Lycée John Kennedy Ouagadougou, 1983-1985; Lycée Newton Ouagadougou, 1985-1987 (BEPC); Lycée Provincial Dori, 1987-1988; Lycée Philippe Zinda Kaboré, 1989-1990 (Baccalauréat Serie D). Higher Education: Bachelor of science, Bsc ("Licence") in Biochemistry and Organic Chemistry, Master of Science, Msc ("Maîtrise") in Biochemistry, and Natural Compounds ("Cum laude", 1994, Université de Ouagadougou), Master of Philosophy, MPhil ("Diplôme d'Etudes Approfondies") in Biochemistry and Food Enzymology ("Cum laude", 1996, UO), Doctor of Science, Dsc ("Doctorat de Spécialité") in Biochemistry and Food Enzymology ("Cum laude", 1999, UO), PhD in Biotechnology, Food Technology and Nutrition (2005, Wageningen University). The research interest of Dr. Dicko focuses on food enzymology (amylases, beta-glucanase, peroxidases, polyphenol oxidases, lipases, etc.) and phenolic compounds and their impact on food qualities and health properties. Former General Manager of CENOU (Centre National des Oeuvres Universitaires), 2008-2011. Since decembre 2007, as Associate Professor, Dr Dicko has created the laboratory of Food Biochemistry, Enzymology, Industrial Biotechnology and Bioinformatics (Laboratoire BAEBIB), at Université de Ouagadougou. Currently three PhD thesis, two ladies (Dr. Mamounata DIAO and Dr. Fatouma Mohamed Abdoul-Latif) and one man (Dr. Donatien KABORE) were defended in the laboratoty and five others are in progress. Among PhD students 60% are females and 40% males. Since July 2012, he has been appointed Full Professor (Professeur Titulaire) of Food Biochemistry by the African and Malagashi Council for Higher Education during its annual meeting in Côte d'Ivoire (16-24th July, 2012). In addition Pr Dicko is currently member of parliament (Député) of Burkina Faso, representing the province of SENO (DORI).
