Biography
Dr. Gabriela Mustata Wilson is an Assistant Professor in the College of Nursing and Health Professions at the University of Southern Indiana (USI) where she leads the health informatics efforts in the Programs of Health Services and Health Administration and Master of Health Administration. Dr. Mustata Wilson earned a Ph.D. in Computational Biochemistry from the University of Houston and a M.Sc. in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from the Free University of Brussels in Belgium. She is an elected Director of the Board of the Indiana Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Chapter and serves on the editorial board of the journal Computational Medicine and BioMed Research International. Dr. Mustata Wilson has been engaged in many research projects, published numerous research articles in prestigious journals, and co-authored several patents. Her work experience in both Pharmaceutical Industry and Academia facilitated the design and discovery of novel therapeutically active molecules for a series of biological systems and development of new methods and technologies for the advancement of drug discovery and oral drug delivery. She is an expert in multidisciplinary research collaborations, with a current focus on time-motion studies to evaluate whether and to what extent health information technology applications increase efficiency in clinical settings. Prior to joining USI, Dr. Mustata Wilson served as a Pharmacoinformatics Specialist in the School of Medicine of the University of Pittsburgh and Director of the Cheminformatics Core and the co-Director of the Chemical Diversity Center, one of the 12 national centers selected to participate in the Chemical Biology Consortium of the National Cancer Institute. She brings solid academic rigor and scientific expertise to the field of Pharmaco and Health Informatics
