Research Interest
Dr. Emilie I Franchow  research   interests are in two primary areas:  1) Executive functioning and emotion regulation in adulthood. Specifically, I am interested in the relationship between patterns of engagement in affect regulation and the ability to efficiently solve problems, think abstractly, and make decisions. 2) Early detection of cognitive decline in older adulthood. Prior research in our lab has demonstrated that performance on certain types of executive functioning tasks is predictive of changes in overall cognitive status over time. I am interested in continuing to identify processes that signal the need for intervention, in the interest of preventing progression to dementia.
