Biography
Professor Alberto Moraes has graduated in Biomedical Sciences in 2001, completing his Maters (2004) and PhD (2008) degrees at the University of Campinas, Brazil, in the field of Cellular and Structural Biology. Since 2008 he has been working in the Federal University of Uberlandia, Brazil, as associate professor. His main administrative activities include Coordination of the Institute’s Biomedical Sciences BSc Program and the Unit of Histology of the same Institute. Academic activities include majors in Cell Biology and Developmental Biology for Biomedical Sciences and Environmental Engineering BScs, as well as disciplines for post-graduation programs. His main research focus relies on the effects of aging and aging-related pathologies on nuclear organization and function, mainly chromatin structure, epigenetics, and nuclear matrix. His last publication in the field is from 2014 about the structural and epigenetic changes in chromatin from mouse cortical neurons along aging. In five years as an independent researcher he has completely supervised three undergraduate students and one MSc, and is supervising nowadays five undergraduate students and one MSc.
