Biography
Dr. Shanmugam Panneer Selvam received his PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2013. He is currently working as a Post-doctoral Scholar focusing on the role of sphingolipids in cancer progression and drug resistance at the Hollings Cancer Center, Charleston, SC, USA. Shanmugam has co-authored 8 research publications in journals such as Science Signaling, Nature Chemical Biology, EMBO Molecular Medicine and Blood. Shanmugam has won several research awards at both national and international conferences in the field of sphingolipids. Also, Shanmugam was part of the science advocacy group in the annual Coalition for Life Sciences at the Capitol Hill Day 2015.
Research Interest
Cancer biology, cellular senescence, Telomerase and telomere biology, signal transduction, lipid signaling and drug discovery.
