Biography

Prof Mahmoud Balbaa has received his PhD in Hokkaido University, Japan during the period of 1984-1988. Currently, he is working as professor of biochemistry in Alexandria University, Egypt. He has successfully completed his administrative responsibilities as a professor. He was appointed as head of Biochemistry Department, Alexandria University, Egypt from 2007 to 2009. His research has included the study of enzyme characterization, enzyme inhibition, cell signaling and the biochemical parameters in diseases. Based on this research and fellowship training, he has received several awards and honors, such as post-doctoral fellowship from Medical Research Council, Canada, post-doctoral fellowship from AIEJ, Japan, the prize of Scientific Encouragement of Alexandria University and the prize of Graduate Studies of Hokkaido University School of medicine. He is serving as an editorial member of several reputed journals like “Journal of Biochemistry and Biotechnology” and “Journal of Biochemistry and Physiology & expert Reviewers for journals like “Journal of Diabetes and its Complications” and “Drug Research”. He have authored 44 research articles. He is a member of Egyptian Biochemical Society and Egyptian Society of Clinical Chemistry. He was a member of American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), Japanese Biochemical Society and Japanese Cancer Association. He was a member of the Egyptian National Committee of Biochemistry for one year.
