Biography

Dr. Jamil graduated, post-graduated from OU and obtained her doctorate also from OU working in CSIR-IICT for her doctoral work. After that there was never looking back as her Career progressed to a full fledged renowned Scientist.
Dr. Mrs. Kaiser Jamil is a distinguished Scientist, having worked in 4 renowned Institutions like IICT, CCMB (both premier Institutes of CSIR), University of Sydney (Australia) and at University of Paris (France). During her career as an active researcher, head of Biology and Biotechnology division of IICT, she established multidisciplinary research in biology and expanded into newer areas of R&D. After her superannuation from IICT; she was awarded Emeritus Scientist by CSIR-New Delhi to continue her research, and she joined the Genetics Department, Mahavir Hospital and Research Center (BMMRC), as HOD. Using in-vitro technologies she established the Cytogenetics and genetic toxicology lab, and completed projects from CSIR, DBT and In-house.
Dr. Kaiser Jamil has over 30 years’ of Research experience, in the field of Biotechnology and recently in cancer biology and Biomarkers for various cancers, has authored over 250 publications and is an inventor of several patents. Dr. Kaiser Jamil discovered the polymorphic nature of several genes which interfere in cancers therapeutics. In 2008 she received the Modern Medicare Award for her discoveries, and all this information is being used for molecular diagnosis of breast cancer, head and neck cancer and leukemias by various diagnostic companies. In 2012 She was awarded as a ‘Distinguished Scientist Award’ by Pentagone Research for her contributions in Bioinformations, and EMSI bestowed the ‘Fellow of Electron Microscopy Award’ in 2013. Besides she is a fellow of ZSI and NESA. She also held the position of Research Director at the Indo-American Cancer Institute and Research Centre from 2006-08. And she is holding the position of the Head of Genetics Department at Bhagwan Mahavir Medical Research Centre- Hyderabad- with an additional charge as honorary Dean- School of Life Sciences at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Advanced Studies- Secunderabad. She is busy guiding PhD scholars , already 26 students have obtained their PhD degrees under her able guidance, and 5 more are working with her. She is fully accomplished Scientist with a nerve to serve the Society and was the first woman to be the President of OWSD (Organization of Women Scientist in the Developing World- formerly TWOWS).

Her research focuses on cytogenetics and genetic toxicology.
