Abstract:

The socio-economic changes at global level have weakened the financial base of health systems around the world, which, along with the increased expectations of the people through the influence of the media, access to information, awareness of new technologies, the progress of medical knowledge led to the creation of the need to control costs in health systems and the optimal and equitable distribution of funds provided for health care. The situation where on the one hand reduced sources of revenue for financing the health system, on the other hand have increased expectations of users of health care, requires an objective picture of spending within the health system, in order to better used reduced financial resources. Aim of this study was to determine the appropriateness of the personalized medicine to reduce healthcare costs. A literature review relevant to personalized medicine and health care costs was examined to find out what has been published about that topic by accredited scholars and researchers. The obtained results showed that different studies provided completely the opposite results. New comprehensive comparative study should be undergone between countries, to define protocols of using personalized medicine in order to reduce healthcare costs.
