Abstract:

For a long time, dental management of patients with heart diseases was synonymous with serious complications (heart attack, severe bleeding, death). This concept was to create a strong apprehension among general dentists who refused to treat these patients because the overestimation of risk. This way of doing has increased the occurrence of complications, instead of reducing them.To prevent some risks such as: Bleeding, syncope, infective endocarditis in these patients, practionners were systematically: ? Stopping anticoagulants to prevent the occurence of bleeding, leading to fatal complications such as: Stroke, death etc. ? Using anesthesia without vasoconstrictor, which was the cause of pain and stress resulting in a significant discharge of endogenous adrenaline, very harmful for the body. ? Using systematically antibiotic prophylaxis before the act. Recent studies have showed that these methods, in addition, they are no reassuring for patient?s health, cause serious complications. Through our oral presentation, we would like to introduce you to the new methods of management of these patients, without major risks, using simple means and materials, by general dentists. We will rely on the current literature and our experience on more than 1400 cases.
