Abstract:

Ceramic veneers are one of the most appealing treatment modalities for the patient. These minimally invasive restorations require intra-enamel preparation if none at all which preserves healthy tooth structure and at the same time are able to completely mask and correct the shape and color of the underlying teeth. In one visit, patients can have their smile perfectly set with the degree of whiteness required. On the other hand, these thin ceramic shells must resist functional loads, correct malposed dentition, and at the same time provide a natural translucency. Ceramic veneers must maintain a good marginal seal and maintain periodontal and gingival health. What appears to be a simple and easy clinical and laboratory procedure could very easily end as esthetic disaster. The presentation will focus on some important clinical aspects starting with case diagnosis, proper selection of ceramic material, tips and tricks during tooth preparation, impression making, and final cementation procedure. The hands-on course will give the audience a chance to master different preparation techniques and will demonstrate differences between a wide range of ceramic materials available for CAD/CAM and pressing technique. A guidance map used to predict color and translucency will be practiced and some clinical errors will be presented.
