Abstract:

The increasing rate of fraudulent activities in Nigeria tertiary institutions has given rise to the need for forensic accountants in the sector. Corruption and other financial malpractices have retarded the growth and economic development of tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The paper adopted documentary sources of information in the course of the research. It examines the role of forensic accountants in combating fraudulent activities in Nigeria tertiary Institutions. It also recommends possible ways of detecting, preventing and/or reducing accounting fraud in the sector.
