In the context of rural Nepal, Internet based Communication is potentially an invaluable asset in health information exchange and health related counseling as shown by this study. With a single telemedicine centre serving well over 3500 patients within the last three years and covering six VDCs over three adjoining districts in and around Kalikot, Nepal, the project which started out as a small initiative now has numbers to show that are but overwhelming. A diversified multicultural population now benefits from the pro bono efforts of young professionals resulting in a significant decrease in morbidity rates most specifically related to reproductive health, childbirth and nutritional health. Following the installation of the center, our study shows a steady decline in morbidity and healthcare issues in the village over the past three years.
