Abstract:

This e-poster presents non-surgical procedures to treat extensive cyst-like peri-apical lesions of endodontic origin. Six cases of cyst-like peri-apical lesions involving 6 teeth from 6 patients were selected. The symptoms described by the patients varied from a simple discomfort, a cutaneous fistula or even a circumscribed acute cellulitis. Radiographic diameters of the lesions ranged from 5.5 mm to 22 mm. Non-surgical procedures were performed by chemo-mechanical root canal preparation. We placed intracanal calcium hydroxide dressing which were periodically replaced during 2 to 6 months. The root canals were then filled with gutta percha by cold lateral condensation technique. The follow-up periods ranged from 6 to 24 months. We reported good bone healing. Thus, non-surgical treatment of these extensive cyst-like peri-apical lesions provided favorable clinical and radiographic response.
