Abstract:

Aims & Objective: To determine the level of knowledge and attitude of dental health care professionals In UAE regarding Bisphosphonate and its dental implications and management and to assess the need for additional education in this area. Materials & Methods: Our study was performed using a 15 close-ended and fixed choice questions, survey distributed to 502 dental health care professionals in the UAE. Results: 72.9% of the practitioners had never seen patients on bisphosphonate. More than half (62.6%) were aware about BRONJ as the most common side effects and only 3.4% were aware about the standard treatment for such a patients. Conclusions: The responses received not only highlight the lack of knowledge among healthcare professionals relating to BRONJ but also show an interest in guidance on managing patients with respect to BRONJ.
