Implant placement in the anterior maxilla remains a challenge to even the most experienced clinician. Immediate implant placement is a risky procedure in itself. To combine these to modalities is expected to have a variety of complications and possible negative outcome. Due to the pressure of patients´┐Ż?? lifestyles and time constricting careers, there is an increase in the demand for combined procedures. Thanks to the advances in the research and availability of dental implantology, it is possible for us clinicians to achieve favorable outcomes when adhering to the principles and techniques available. This poster presentation is representative of such instance, when following the correct guidelines; a successful outcome is made possible. A thorough clinical case presentation presents the basic guidelines in photo collage format with the relevant steps to show the beginning, intermediate and final stages of an immediate implant in the anterior maxilla.

Biography :

Chantelle van Graan completed her BChD degree in 2008 at the University of the Western Cape. She completed a year of Compulsory Community Service as a General Dentist at the South African National Defence Force base in Heidelberg, Gauteng, South Africa. In 2010, she joined an established private practice in Heidelberg where she became Co-owner of the practice in late 2010. She was responsible for the practice refurbishing and management whilst continuing her studies at the University of Pretoria, South Africa in the field of Implantology. In 2013, she joined a private practice in Alberton, Gauteng, South Africa. She completed her Certificate in Implantology at the University of Pretoria in 2013. She then continued in her field of Implantology by enrolling in the Post-graduate Diploma in Implantology Program at the University of Pretoria under mentor Prof. Andre van Zyl, Department of Oral Medicine and Periodontology. In 2014, she completed two Post-graduate subjects, Anatomy and Physiology. She was recruited by a private practice in Secunda, Mpumalanga towards the end of 2013. In 2015, she completed her Post-graduate Diploma in Implantology at the University of Pretoria. She is currently in private practice at Dedekind Dental in Secunda, Mpumalanga, South Africa. She is winner of the 2016 International Team of Implantology, South Africa National congress poster presentations.
