Abstract:

Statement of the Problem: The head and neck structures are for learning probably the most difficult part of anatomy. The main problem is that most structures of the head and neck are too small and located deeply, in hardly accessible areas. Methodology and Theoretical Orientation: For better learning of anatomy of the head and neck was necessary during the teaching process to offer students the combination of methods according to single areas. Bones were studied with using of skulls, muscles on models and prosections. Vessels and nerves could students see in cadavers. Moreover, in each learning area were used anatomical atlases, lectures were followed by power point presentations and newly developed textbooks were offered. Teaching of head and neck anatomy was focused first on the systematic anatomy and then summarized in topographical anatomy. Except of learning the skull, all other anatomy structures were studied in the dissecting room on cadaveric material. Findings: Learning of the head and neck anatomy was more effective when was during teaching process used not only one method. The combination of theoretical methods, models and cadavers is in learning process more suitable for students understanding of head and neck anatomy. Biography :

Darina Kluchova is a Professor of anatomy, she has her expertise in teaching methods and passion in improving of students learning of human body of anatomy. Following this aim, she was looking for the best ways of understanding anatomy, including preparing several textbooks and creating of new curricula. Except of her interest in educational methods, her scientific work is focused in the area of neuroanatomy.
