Pietro Invernizzi received his MD in July 1993 from the University of Milan, Italy. In December 1996 he received his PhD from the University of Milan. During the PhD program he was a research fellow at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati, OH, USA. In 2000 Dr. Invernizzi completed his training in Gastroenterology. In 2000 he was a post-doc in the Liver Unit of the San Paolo Hospital School of Medicine of the University of Milan. From 2004 to 2008 he had an appointment as Clinical Assistant at the same Division. In 2007 he has also received an appointment as Assistant Professor at the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Rheumatology, Allergy, and Clinical Immunology, School of Medicine, University of California at Davis, CA, USA. From 2008 he is head of the Center for Autoimmune Liver Diseases, Department of Medicine, IRCCS Istituto Clinico Humanitas, Rozzano, Italy.
His main scientific interests are on autoimmune liver diseases such as primary biliary cirrhosis, and primary sclerosing cholangitis, and on cholangiocarcinoma.
