Biography

Dr. Roberts received his D.D.S. from the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston and completed a General Practice Residency at the Brighton Marine Hospital in Boston. He received a MScD (Pediatric Dentistry) from the Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry..
He served as a commissioned officer in the United States Public Health Service for 24+ years before joining the faculty of the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry, Department of Pediatric Dentistry. He has served as the Department’s Graduate Program Director, Chair and Associate Chair.
Dr. Roberts has been the President of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, President of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and Chairman, Foundation of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He is a Fellow, American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. 

Research Interest

His research interests include eating disorders as they affect the oral cavity, access to oral health care for children and the impact and oral manifestations of systemic medical disorders.
