Michael VanAuker earned a B.S. and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. His Dissertation work involved the study and modeling of congenital heart disease. Michael held research positions associated first with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY, and subsequently SUNY Health Sciences Center, Brooklyn, where he participated in research in hypertension and heart disease.
Michael maintains a research interest in medical devices, cardiovascular disease, and targeted drug delivery systems. In the legal arena, Michael is interested in how differences in patent law and enforcement policy between countries, particularly in fields such as pharmaceuticals and biotech, may affect business strategy.
