Biography
Dr. Anastasios Tassos Lymperopoulos came to Nova Southeastern University in August 2009 as Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Lymperopoulos`s career as a biomedical researcher started by earning his MSc in Medicinal Chemistry followed by his PhD in Pharmacology after graduating from the School of Pharmacy of the University of Patras back in his home country Greece. During his predoctoral career Dr. Lymperopoulos focused his research on molecular pharmacology of drug receptors and more specifically on signal transduction of certain types of adrenergic receptors the molecules responsible for mediating the actions of adrenaline in the body.
Research Interest
Cardiovascular biology/pharmacology and gene therapyStudy of mechanisms of adrenergic and other GPCR systems` regulation in heart failure and in ways of manipulating these mechanisms for therapeutic purposes. In particular, novel roles of G-protein coupled receptor kinases and their co-factors, beta-arrestins, in regulation of various important cardiovascular G-protein coupled receptors are investigated.
