Biography

Dr. Maria Krestyaninova is a Biomedical Informatics Coordinator in Functional Genomics group at the European Bioinformatics Institute, Hinxton, UK. She was awarded a PhD degree in Applied Mathematics and Physics at Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Moscow, Russia. Since 2005 Dr Krestyaninova led the open source cross-institutional software project SIMBioMS (simbiomg.org). Since 2008 she served as a co-leader of the IT working group at Public Population Project in Genomics (P3G). In this role she was involved in design and development of informatics infrastructure for cross-biobank data integration and harmonization. Dr Krestyaninova published 10 peer-reviewed papers and served as a reviewer in the areas of bioinformatics, data management, data standards, cheminformatics and data analysis.

Research Interest

Software design and architecture; high-throughput data warehousing and data integration; re-annotation and consistency control of high-throughput complex datasets; molecular and genetic data analysis; semantic enrichment and semantic analysis, development of data exchange standards for large complex studies, biobank data harmonisation; self-organisation principles in IT design.
