Biography

Heinz Mueller studied biochemistry at the ETH Zurich. After receiving his PhD, he moved to the US and worked for several years at research institutions in San Diego and Chicago. He returned to Switzerland to the University of Basel as a principal investigator in the field of breast cancer research. From this university, he received his Venia legendi and the title of a professor. Ten years ago he joined the patent department of the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property but remaining a regular lecturer in biochemistry at the medical faculty of the University of Basel. He also teaches intellectual property law at different Swiss universities, in particular for life science students, and writes articles for several publications on this topic.
