Biography

Felix Munkonge is currently a Research Fellow Lecturer in the Department of Gene Therapy at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London, UK. He earned his PhD at Kings College (KQC), University of London, UK. He has published 37 Reviewed papers, and has contributed to 2 book chapters. He has teaching experience of more than 14 years. He is a reviewer for the Biotechnology & Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) and an editorial board member of the Journal of Data Mining in Genomics & Proteomics. He is a Fellow of the Society of Biologists and member of the UK Biochemical Society. He served as a reviewer of peer-reviewed journals in the area of cell biology, biochemistry and proteomics.

Research Interest

His expertise is in the cellular molecular biology of gene transfer to the polarized epithelial cell. Most specifically, his current research is focused on the intracellular fate of plasmid DNA following gene transfer of the human airway epithelial cell using live-cell, real-time fluorescence imaging techniques and electron microscopy.
