Biography

Dr. Dawson is currently an Assistant Professor of Periodontics in the College of Dentistry at the University of Kentucky, Lexington, Kentucky.
Dr. Dawson received his dental degree and certificate of Advanced General Dentistry training from the University of Louisville, Louisville, Kentucky. He received his periodontal certificate and MS inOral Biology from the University of Kentucky, Lexington, Kentucky.
Dr. Dawson has been aprincipal investigator on an NIH study investigating the effect of omega-3 fatty acids (fish oils) on the clinical, microbiologic, and immunologic responses to treatment of periodontitis. He has been an investigator and co-investigator on industry sponsored studies of adjunctive non-surgical periodontal therapy in addition to NIH-funded studies in non-human primates investigating the effects of a low calorie diet on infection, inflammation and disease in periodontitis.
Dr. Dawson is an active member of the American Association for Dental Research, American Academy of Periodontology, and American Dental Education Association.
