Jackson State University, Jackson, USA

Dr. Anita K Patlolla is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology/Environmental Science PhD Program at Jackson State University Jackson Mississippi USA. She earned her PhD in Environmental Science (Major Concentration: Toxicology) at Jackson State University, Jackson MS USA. Dr. Patlolla has published several research papers and chapters in the reputed international peer reviewed journals and books in the area of heavy metals and nanomaterials. Her articles are widely cited by other researchers in the field. She served as a reviewer for peer review journals in toxicology including Environmental Toxicology, Toxicologic Pathology, Basic Clinical Pharmacology, Toxicology Prostaglandins Leukotrienes Essential Fatty Acids MidSouth Computational Biology and Bioinformatics and Hepatotoxicity. She has teaching experience of more than 15 years in biology related courses. She served as chair of the “DNA repair and Genotoxicity” and “Nanotoxicology” session in the Annual meetings of the Society of Toxicology. She is a member of several professional organizations including Society of Toxicology SOT, The Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry SETAC, American Association of Cancer Research AACR, European Association of Cancer Research EARC, Emory Judson C Ward Consecutive Giving Society and Mississippi Academy of Sciences. She received awards such as American Association of Cancer Research MSI Faculty Scholar for five years (2007-2010, 2015) in conducting outstanding research in the area of cancer.

Research Interest

Toxicity studies of nanostructures and heavy metals with biological systems with an emphasis on elucidating the relationship between the physical and chemical properties (e.g. size, shape, surface chemistry, composition, and aggregation) of heavy metals, nanostructures or nanoparticles with induction of toxic biological response. Dr. Patlolla extensively worked on the toxicokinetics, molecular mechanisms of toxicity and histopathology of heavy metals and nanomaterials in animal models. She has expertise in Genotoxicity Bioassay such as Chromosomal aberrations, Micronucleus Test and Comet assay.
