Biography

Alexandru S. Biris is the Director/Chief Scientist of the UALR Nanotechnology Center, USA and Associate Professor in the Applied Science Department at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He has published over 125 peer-reviewed papers, and he was author of four book chapters. He has teaching experience of more than five years and is a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS), Materials Research Society (MRS) and The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He served as a reviewer of peer-reviewed journals in the area of Nanotechnology, Physical Chemistry, Spectroscopy, Nanomedicine and Energy. He received several awards including 2005 The Northrop Young Researcher of the Year Award.

Research Interest

Dr. Biris research interests are in the areas of synthesis of multifunctional nanomaterials and their applications in various areas such as nanomedicine, energy, toxicity and micro-nano fabrication of multi level systems. His focus is on the growth of high quality carbon nanotubes and their applications in biotechnology and medicine such as cancer specific targeting, visualization, and destruction, tissue engineering, sensors, and alternative energy.
