Biography

Dr. Afzal Mohammed is a Pharmacist who read for his PhD in 2005 which was followed by a Post Doctoral position working on the development of freeze dried subunit vaccines for the treatment of tuberculosis. In October 2007 he was appointed as a lecturer at Aston University. His research interests include formulation development of orally disintegrating tablets by direct compression and freeze drying, formulation of oral liquid nanomedicines and understanding the genomic signature of drug delivery systems using microarrays. His research group has published extensively in various international journals and work from his laboratory has resulted in the filing of two patents. Dr. Mohammed has published 25 research articles and over 60 abstracts at national and international conferences. He has been successful in attracting research income from government bodies and pharmaceutical industries.
