Biography
Massimo Masserini is full professor of Biochemistry and Director of the Nanomedicine Center of Milano Bicocca (NANOMIB) that is located within the Department of Health Sciences University .  The expertises of the Center  are in the area of nanomedicine, with  wide collateral expertises in the areas of medical biotechnologies , pharmacology, physiology, oncology, haematology, biochemistry, physiology, medical imaging , proteomics,  physics. Its available infrastructures include: AFM, fluorescence microscopy, dynamic laser light scattering, DSC, MS (MALDI-TOF),  Positron Emission tomography, Computed tomography for small animals, BiaCore, Genechips, confocal  microscopy, RT-PCR, Cytofluorimetry, electrophoresis, chromatography. Also facilities for cell culture, protein purification and molecular biology, radiochemistry and animal house are available. He Autorshiped 150 articles, published in the main international and national journals. He is Referee for several  scientific journals and Research Agencies (eg NIH, INSERM, MIUR).
Research Interest
Research Interests of Massimo include Design, synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles for biomedical use. Use of nanotechnology for the treatment and diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease in vitro and in vivo. Molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration (Alzheimer's disease, prion diseases). Molecular interactions between cells and ligands. Functions of caveolae and lipid rafts in cell membranes. Metabolism, Aging and lateralization of the Central Nervous System
