Biography
Luis A. Bermúdez-Bosch earned his Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry at the University of Puerto Rico at Cayey in 2011. During his years at Cayey, he was a member of the Circle of Chemistry as well as the Concert Band where he played the trumpet. He obtained his Master of Science (MSc) degree with honors in pharmaceutical sciences at the School of Pharmacy, Medical Sciences Campus, University of Puerto Rico in 2014. During his MSc degree he was member of the graduate committee and held the chair as student representative. His thesis titled “A proposal for an individualized pharmacogenetic-guided warfarin dosage regimen for Puerto Rican patients commencing anticoagulation therapy” focused on predicting individual warfarin doses for patients commencing anticoagulation therapy, using a pharmacogenetic algorithm and pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PK-PD) simulations. A pharmacogenetic dose-refinement algorithm to predict warfarin dosing after 3rd day of therapy was also developed. Research he has authored has been published in the Journal of Pharmacogenomics and Pharmacoproteomics and the American Journal of Hematology. This work was presented at the Thrombosis and Hemostasis Summit of North America in Chicago, IL in 2014. His most recent work has been focused on Real Time-Multivariate Statistical Process Monitoring (RT-MSPM) within the biotechnology industry. He is member of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientist and the American Chemical Society.
