Biography
Liang recently completed his PhD in Urban Studies and Planning and joined the ITLS as a researcher. His research interests primarily lie within the relationships between transportation and land use, including the impact of land use on travel behavior and the impact of transportation investments on land development patterns. His recent work focuses on exploring the impact of the built environment on sustainability and public health through affecting people’s daily travel behavior, and expanding current understanding of the built environment-behavior relationship by using the models from psychology and socio-ecology. Most of his research work has been presented in national and international conferences, such as The Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning (ACSP) conference, Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Conference, Active Living Research (ALR) conference, The World Conference on Transport Research (WCTR), International Conference on Traffic and Transport Psychology, and published in different referred journals, including Journal of American Planning Association, Transportation, and Transportation Research Record. He is currently working with Professor Corinne Mulley and Professor Stephen Greaves on a study of objective indices of health outcomes in relation to different travel modes.
