Biography
Dr. Marie-Laure Joly-Guillou is a medical microbiologist, professor at the Faculty of Medicine of Angers since 2003. She is head of the "Infectious Agent Department" of the Biology Health Institute at the Universitary Hospital of Angers. She is President of the Infection Control Comittee of the University Hospital in Angers, a position she also provided in other Hospitals. She directed much of her career at the University of Paris 7-Bichat (1977-2003). Her research deals with a bacterial genus Acinetobacter, a bacterium responsible for outbreaks in hospitals. She developed a murine model of Acinetobacter pneumonia that explores the pathology and therapeutic pathways of Acinetobacter baumannii infections. Her resaerch activity has resulted with the publication of 120 original refeered scientific articles, reviews, book or book chapters. She was honored in 2010 by the International Comittee on Bacterial Taxonomy which gave her name to an Acinetobacter specie : Acinetobacter guillouiae.
