Biography
In 1962, Haruo Sugi graduated from postgraduate school in University of Tokyo with the degree of Ph.D, and became Instructor in the Department of Physiology, University of Tokyo Medical School. He worked in Columbia University and National Institutes of Health from 1965 to 1967. From 1973 to 2004, He was Professor and Chairman in the Department of Physiology, Teikyo University Medical School, and organized a number of international symposia on the mechanism of muscle contraction, each followed by publication of proceedings. FRom 1974 to 1984, He was chairman of Muscle Commission in the International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS). Sugi retired from Teikyo University in 2004, and is still continuing research work with coworkers.
