Biography
Dr. Dionysios Douroumis is Reader in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the School of Sciences. He has industrial experience on R&D of solid dosage forms, technology transfer and scale – up. Due to his expertise he led EU funding projects (MultiDES) as the principal investigator. In the last three years he generated £1.2 million from European grants and industrial collaborations. He is member of the Board of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences APS) and he has joined the Editorial Boards of more than five international peer reviewed journal including the Wiley’s Editorial Board for the series in “Advances in Pharmaceutical Technology”. He has published more than 120 peer-reviewed publications, including 50 full papers, 4 book chapters and 2 books (Wiley –Blackwell) in “Hot Melt Extrusion Pharmaceutical Applications” and “Drug Delivery Strategies of Poorly Water Soluble Drugs”.
Research Interest
Dr. Dionysios Douroumis research is focused on the development and characterization of drug products by using continuous manufacturing processes. The areas covered include solid dispersions, nano particles and medical devices. His research also explores the use of Quality by Design (QbD) approaches and Process Analytical Tools (PAT) for process optimization.
