Biography
Prof Ahmed S. Abdoon, was born in Cairo, Egypt in Aug 4th 1959, and graduated from Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Cairo University in 1982. Professor Abdoon is supervisor on the laboratory of Reproductive Biotechnology, belonging to the Dept. Animal Reproduction, National Research Centre of Egypt. Expert in management of reproduction in animals, and has many publications on treatment of reproductive disorders, Developmental and molecular biology in animals. Prof Abdoon published 45 gene sequences related to this work in Genbank. Also, Prof Abdoon and his research group are concentrating their work on the applications of Plasmon Photothermal Therapy (PPTT) using gold nanorods for curing mammary tumor and skin carcinoma in pet animals. In addition, he is the principal investigator for many International projects with Italy, Germany, USA, France, Spain, China and Japan. All these projects are dealing with the molecular mechanisms regulating reproduction in animals. Dr Abdoon, is the Co-Editor-in- Chief of the Bulletin of the National Research Centre, he is also reviewer in International journals of reproduction (Theriogenology, Animal Reproduction Science, Reproduction in Domestic Animals and PLOS one, Molecular reproduction and Development). He got the National Award for the Promotion of Agricultural Sciences in 2002, National Research Centre for Excellence in Medical Sciences in 2012 and the award of the NATO Science Program in 2002. Supervisor for 22 master and Ph.D. thesis, and published more than 82 articles in International journals and peer reviewed journals.
