I obtained my B.L.S in 2007 with Second Class (Upper Division) as well as MLS degree in 2014 both from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. After my National Youth Service Corps in 2008, I joined the services of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto as a Graduate Assistant. I was promoted from Graduate Assistant to Assistant Lecturer in 2011, from Assistant Lecturer to Lecturer II in 2015 and currently I am the Head, Information and  Communication Technology of the University Library. I have being a paid up member of the NLA since 2006. I served as an editorial member of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria NALISS Search Light from 2004 – 2006. I have attended numerous conferences, seminars and workshops that have kept me abreast of the current trends in Librarianship. Some of the training programmes I attended recently are Elsevier Science Direct (2013,2014) at UDUS; Research4Life Train the Trainers (ITOCA) (2010) at BUK; Transforming Nigerian Libraries into Effective 21st Century Information Unit with ICT (2009) in Lagos; Acquisition and Management of e-Library for Librarians in Public Tertiary Institutions (2014) at KADSU; etc. Furthermore, I have served as a member of various committees both in the Library and the University at large. A few of such committees include e-Learning Committee of Usmanu Danfodiyo University (2013), Library Management Committee, Representative of the University Librarians at various faculties and functions, E-resources Technical Committee of Usmanu Danfodiyo University (2014), University Tenders Board Meetings, Virtual/ Digitization Committee of Usmanu Danfodiyo University (2010), Virtual/Digitization Committee of Abdullahi Fodiyo Complex (2014), etc. As part of my contributions towards the promotion of library and information services in my institution, I introduced the following services: 1. Electronic Dissemination of Information (EDI) I designed a portal for Abdullahi Fodiyo Library Complex in order to increase the visibility of the institution as well as to promote its information resources and access. As a result of extensive consultations and input from the University Librarian, University Web Development Team and other stake-holders, the project is now a success. It is available on http://pg.udusok.edu.ng/elibrary 2. Databank of Open Sources Considering the numerous challenges confronting an ICT Librarian in the University, I developed a databank of open source resources to complement the subscribed databases. I also created a databank of the users e-mail address with their phone numbers for easy dissemination of information. This was done by designing a form for both the staff and students of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. 3. Publicity and Promotion In my effort to give the library resources a wider publicity, I facilitated the production and distribution of promotional materials such as panaflex and posters of the available electronic links or relevant websites and the address of the e-library all over the University Campuses. Presently, I am making efforts to ensure that every database uses its official website to advertise the availability of their e-Resources in Usmanu Danfodiyo University apart from donating promotional materials. Efforts are being made to also ensure that every faculty /departmental presentations and seminars are hosted in the Library to ensure maximum cooperation and utilization of the available ICT facilities and resources. For instance, of recent ICT Division of the Library hosted the post graduate defence of Faculty of Arts and Islamic Studies and in appreciation of the hitch free power point presentation they had, a letter of appreciation was sent to the Library to thank the University Librarian as well as the ICT Librarian for their support. 4. Introduction of E-Reference Services With the introduction of e-reference; users can send reference queries to the e-librarian online and it would be answered as soon as possible. I also used the official website of the University to disseminate current information to visitors. Presently, efforts are being made to ensure full automation of the Library. 5. Introduction of CD-ROM Search I introduced the CD-ROM search service to serve as an off-line services being rendered to users whenever the Library is experiencing difficulties in establishing internet connection. 6. Collaboration and Linkages In less than 100 days in office, I was able to wire the Abdullahi Fodiyo Library to a number of donor organisations who are now donating information resources and promotional materials to the institution. For instance, in May 2014, I got a grant for the University from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation which qualified the institution for receiving a TEEAL Set of about $5000 at no cost and annual subsidy of over $750,000 for contents update. Presently, the TEEAL Machine is up and running on the University network (Intranet).
