Dr. Lim Boon Huat received his PhD from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 2005. Currently, he works as a lecturer and researcher at USM. He has successfully completed his Administrative responsibilities as Chairman of Biomedicine Programme at the School of Health Sciences, USM. He still chairs the school Publication Evaluation Committee and the School Technical Committee, besides being a committee member in the School Postgraduate Committee, Research Committee and also the Academic Programme Quality and Accreditation Committee. His research interests include development of improved diagnosis for detection of amoebic liver abscess and brugian filariasis; understanding the association between soil-transmitted helminthiases and tuberculoisis; and working on controlling intestinal parasitic infections in rural villages in Malaysia. Based on this research and fellowship training, he has received several awards and honors, such as: Gold medal at BioInno Awards 2010 in Malaysia ; Gold medal at the Invention and Innovations Trade Fair, IENA 2011 in Nuremberg, Germanay; USM Excellence Service Awards for the years 2008, 2010 and 2013; and also several USM publication awards. He is serving as an editorial member of several reputed journals like Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine and Malaysian Journal of Forensics Science and also an expert reviewers for journals like Journal of Medical Microbiology, Journal of Microbiological Methods, Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine, Journal of Liver, Health and Environmental Journal and Journal of Parasitology and Vector Biology. He has authored more than 25 research articles, contributed to three academic books. He is a member of the Malaysian Society of Parasitology and Tropical Medicine.
