Dr. Song has received his PhD in China Agricultural University during the period of 1992-1995. Currently, he is working as an associate professor in the University of Maryland. He has successfully completed his Administrative responsibilities as director on biometrics program and his research has included epigenetics, statistical genomics. Based on this research and fellowship training he has received several awards and honors, such as Golda Meir Fellowship Award and Excellence Scholar. He is serving as an editorial member of several reputed journals like Frontiers in Epigenomics and Computational Biology & expert Reviewers for journals like Nature methods, Nature Technology, Nucleic Acids Research, PNAS, Plos genetics, Plos One, BMC Genomics, Bioinformatics, Genetics and Molecular Biology and Evolution, etc. He has authored 100 research articles/books. He is a member of The International Society for Computational Biology, The American Society of Human Genetics, American Society of Mathematical Biology, Poultry Science Association, International Society of Animal Genetics.
His long-term goal is to use statistical genetics and computational epigenetic methods to study interaction between livestock genomes and environmental factors, especially to discover alleles that modify responses to environmental exposure and to investigate how such epigenetic biomarkers and alleles affect exposed animal.
