Biography

I am pediatric a dentist with clinical expertise in pediatric dentistry, with special focus in dental traumatology and dental treatment of medically compromised patients and patients with dental anxiety. My research interest is focused on traumatic dental injuries, as well as oral health status and treatment of patients with medical comorbidities. Over the past year, my time was equally divided to clinical work, research and teaching.

I graduated from University of Belgrade, School of Dental Medicine. I finished my PhD studies in 2012 and my PhD thesis was focused on epidemiology of traumatic dental injuries in children. I have authored and coauthored several monographs, book chapters and papers on the subject of dental trauma in pediatric population. I finished residency in the field of pediatric and preventive dentistry in 2014. Currently I work as attending pediatric dentist and assistant lecturer in Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry, School of Dental Medicine, University of Belgrade.

My research interests were mainly focused on the epidemiology of traumatic dental injuries in children – etiology and its association with occurrence of dental trauma in specific risk groups. From a clinical perspective, I studied the type of emergency dental treatment provided after trauma and time elapsed until the dental treatment and its role in the occurrence of complications. Finally I studied compliance to guidelines during treatment provided after traumatic dental injuries and its association with treatment outcome.

Teaching has been my passion since the fourth year of dental medical school when I became preclinical demonstrator and held introduction lectures to my younger colleagues and helped them with practical activities. This continued in my internship and residency when I continued to work with dental students as clinical instructor. As staff member at School of Dental Medicine, I am actively involved in teaching the first, second, fourth and fifth year dental students both as part of clinical skills courses as well as a lecturer on topics ranging from preventive to advanced dental treatment of pediatric patients with severe disabilities under general anesthesia.
