A.F. Shoair is currently affiliated to Department of Chemistry, continuing research in the specialized scientific area of development of catalytic oxidants for organic compounds. A.F. Shoair is serving as an honorary reviewer for Journal of Biomolecular Research & Therapeutics & other reputed journals and has authored several articles along with chapters in different books related to area of coordination chemistry especially of the transition metal complexes in high and lower oxidation states; the preparation and characterization of new transition complexes in the solid and in solution, and their application as oxidation catalysts for useful organic oxidation.
My research interest is in the development of catalytic oxidants for organic compounds. My current line of research lies in the area of coordination chemistry especially of the transition metal complexes in high and lower oxidation states; the preparation and characterization of new transition complexes in the solid and in solution, and their application as oxidation catalysts for useful organic oxidation; the following are more specific interests:
1- Oxo complexes: preparation of transition metal complexes for platinum group metals in high and low oxidation states and the use of such as complexes catalytic organic oxidants with some co-oxidants (S2O82-, BrO3- and IO4-).
2- Metal peroxo complexes: preparation of peroxocomplexes of Mo and W and the use of such complexes with H2O2 as co-oxidant for organic catalytic oxidation.
3- Application of Infrared and Raman spectroscopic techniques for characterization of these complexes in solution.
